RBH Group, developer of the successful Teachers Village projects in Newark, NJ and Hartford, CT, is developing an approximately 150,000 SF mixed-use residential project in the East Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. The property will consist 100% of affordable housing units at a range of affordabilities, marketed to residents in the Chicago area. The project will renovate a former elementary school building located within an historic Puerto Rican community activating a key property that has been vacant for more than a decade.

RBH is renovating the four-story school building to include 102 apartments (88,213 square feet of residential), and in a second phase, to construct 5 townhouses adjacent to the school. Approximately 800 square feet of community-based retail is planned, along with 53 surface parking spots. The project will include supportive services for families and individuals, and ground floor space as well as outdoor space and tenant and community gatherings. Other on-site amenities include a gymnasium, lounges, laundry spaces and office space for the local Puerto Rican Cultural Center as a community partner.

Project Area
Humboldt Village is located in a residential neighborhood near community retail and two blocks from Humboldt Park. It is adjacent to popular neighborhoods including Bucktown and Wicker Park. The project is within walking distance to two metro stations and nearby bus lines.
